Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot and injured by an alleged member of a rival gang outside a bar in Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion last Saturday dawn.

Filmar Pedrosa, 22, was standing outside Mood Night Resto Bar when he was shot by a certain “Juko” at past 4 a.m.

The victim, who was hit on his back, was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City while the suspect fled onboard a motorcycle.

Investigation showed that Pedrosa and Juko were reportedly members of rival gangs, Bloods and Crips, which police is now looking into as motive in attacking the victim.

The suspect and his possible hide-outs is now being tracked by the police.

Meanwhile, a utility worker of a recreation center was also shot and seriously wounded last Saturday night by his co-worker in Barangay Baliwagan, Balamban town.

Victim Herman Mahilum, 31, a native of Calatrava, Negros Occidental, landed in the hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound on his stomach and right thigh, allegedly  caused by Niel Torres, 19.

Investigation showed that the incident took place around 8 p.m. when Mahilum was about to turn on the lights of Wild Wild West Compound.

Torres, a native of Canlaon, Negros Oriental, who was hiding behind a wall, shot him repeatedly.

Despite being wounded, Mahilum managed to run away and was later taken to the Balamban District Hospital and later to a Cebu City hospital for further treatment.

The responding policemen arrested Torres at the house of his girlfriend. They failed to recover the firearm used in the crime.

Torres, when interviewed by police, said he got irked at the victim, citing his alleged arrogance.  (FREEMAN)
