FREEMAN's Fr. Roy wins CAMMA award

CEBU, Philippines - FR. Roy Cimagala last night won for himself and The FREEMAN the Best In Column Writing Award at the 15th Cebu Archdiocesan Mass Media Awards at SM City Cebu Cinema I.

The CAMMA Awards is a project of the Cebu Archdiocese. The theme for this year’s awards is “Truth, proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age.”

The FREEMAN was a finalist in four other contest categories —Best in Feature Writing, with Quennie Bronce; Best in Special/Investigative Reporting with Fred Languido; Best in Editorial Cartooning, with Ramesh Rosillo; and Best in Editorial Writing.

The winners from Banat in the Visayan category were Rey Pasaporte for Best in New Writing and Best in Special/Investigative Report, Eleanor Valeros for Best in Feature and Ramesh Rosillo for Best in Editorial Cartooning.

The Freeman has previously won major awards in earlier CAMMA ceremonies, as well as in other searches for excellence, both in the local and national levels. It is a Hall of Famer in the Philippine Press Institute Community Press Awards. (FREEMAN)
