CEBU, Philippines - The Cultural Heritage Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation joins the celebration of the International Museum Day through a free art workshop for kids today.

The project is in partnership with Cebuano artist Elena Larazabal and is open to those between 15 to 25 years old.

“The workshop is intended to help the youth spend their summer productively and assist in developing their talents in painting,” according to RAFI.

The lessons they will teach the participants will include visual elements and principles of art.

Classes will start today at 3pm until 5pm at the Casa Gorordo Museum. Classes will be held for four weeks every Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Those who have not registered yet can still register today. The workshop is free, but participants may have to shoulder the materials they would need, as well as miscellaneous expenses.

After the four-week workshop, there will be an exhibit of artworks and awarding for the best paintings on June 12. For registration, interested participants may call 418-7234 local 702.

The International Museum Day is celebrated every May 18 of each year since 1977. It is celebrated to promote Museums as important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, co-operation and peace among peoples.  – THE FREEMAN
