CEBU, Philippines - Realtor Georgia Osmeña might not get the support of her brother Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
This after the mayor replied, “I have nothing to do with that,” when asked by reporters on what will be his move after his sister announced she is seeking moral support from the Osmeña family in relation to her wish of running for mayor in next year’s polls.
He said he is not at all surprised to hear that Georgia had announced of her intention to challenge the mayoralty bid of Vice Mayor Michael Rama, who had already been endorsed by Osmeña as the bet of the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan.
“I don’t think of it. I have nothing to do with that,” the mayor replied when reporters attempted at coaxing an elaboration of his brief answer.
For Rama, he strongly welcomes the intention of the mayor’s sister as everybody has the “chance to run for government posts; anyway, it would be the public who will choose their leader.”
Rama strongly believes that the mayor and his wife, Margot, would no longer make changes pertaining to their announcement on supporting his bid.
Georgia chose not to attend the city’s formal program yesterday celebrating the 131st birth anniversary of her grandfather, Don Sergio Osmeña Sr., at the birthplace of the former Philippine President at Osmeña Boulevard corner Lapulapu Street.
She was attending to a separate activity at the Don Sergio Osmeña Memorial National High School in barangay Labangon where the people greeted her as the “granddaughter of the so-called Grand Old Man of Cebu.”— Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV (FREEMAN NEWS)
