PDP-Laban calls out inactive members

-

CEBU, Philippines – Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-LABAN held their Party Leaders’ Forum yesterday to call on their inactive Visayan members to once again be active in the party.

Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said that it was the Visayas Leg of their campaign for the participation and support of their former members. He further shared that the activity was also a “reaching-out exercise” to Visayan leaders to join their cause.

Pimentel said that they welcome new members to be part of their party as long as they believe in the five principles their party upholds; theism, authentic humanism, enlightened nationalism, democratic socialism and participatory democracy.

An additional requirement is that the person who wants to be member should not be part of any other party since they strongly prohibit dual membership this time.

Although he could not specify contact persons and numbers yet, he assured that there will be soon. He hopes that in the next few weeks, another meeting will be held for the whole Visayas PDP-Laban members to convene to discuss developments.

Pimentel also said that PDP-Laban wants to establish a formal party chapter per municipality and he perceives this to be not less than 16,000 members nationwide.

And even if they have not yet established their local bets here in Cebu, they wish to invite former allies from the families of Holganza, Cuenco, and Daluz to once again join their party.

Pimentel held a press conference yesterday before the Party Leaders’ Forum where he answered questions about the PDP-Laban plans on the next elections, the party’s stand on Charter Change and their anxiety over the automation of polls next elections. — Barbara Anne B. Ocaba /BRP (THE FREEMAN)
