2 more cases filed vs. Sulpicio Lines

Cebu - Two more civil cases were filed yesterday against Sulpicio Lines Inc. in connection with the sinking of the MV Princess of the Stars in the seawaters off Romblon last June 21.

The latest cases were filed before the Regional Trial Court by a wife of a seaman and the mother of a woman who works in Manila.

Florita Tayongtong has asked the shipping company to pay damages of P36.396 million, equivalent to the salary of her husband Ephraim, who worked as a seaman.

Lorna Goyenechea, on the other hand, has asked damages of P2.736 million for the loss of her daughter Michelle.

Each of the complainants have also asked for moral and exemplary damages of P800,000 and 20 percent in attorney’s fees.

Named respondents in the suits were Capt. Florencio Marimon, the ship master of the MV Princess of the Stars; Enrique S. Go., SLI president; Eusebio S. Go, executive vice-president; Carlos S. Go, executive vice-president and chief executive officer; Victoriano S. Go, senior vice-president and secretary; Dominador S. Go, 1st vice-president; Ricardo S. Go, 1st vice president and treasurer; Edward S. Go, 1st vice-president; and the directors officers of the shipping firm.
