A married woman filed charges on Friday against her neighbor in barangay Panadtaran, San Fernando town, for allegedly raping her sometime in April while she was putting her three children to sleep.
In her sworn statement to San Fernando Police, 36-year-old Benefreda Villaceran said that sometime in April of this year, her neighbor Richard Bontilao barged inside her house while she was putting the kids to bed.
“He held my hand, I shouted for help but he covered my mouth and told me not to make any noise. It was then that he performed the said act,” the complainant narrated in vernacular.
However, Villaceran could not recall the exact date of the incident. She also said that after what happened, she did not immediately muster the courage to tell anybody of her ordeal.
It was only when her elder sister asked her to confide to her on what had really happened that night after her sister heard rumors from neighbors that she was raped one evening in April.
Villaceran said that after the incident she was able to secure a medical certificate as proof that she was indeed raped. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
