One Cebu party completes slate

The One Cebu party yesterday completed its lineup for various positions in the province for the May 14 elections, boasting of strong candidates against the opposition.

Led by Garcia and Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr., the party has finalized its candidates for the Provincial Board members, congressional district representatives, mayors, vice mayors and councilors during a gathering yesterday.

Two outgoing town mayors and two councilors, a former provincial board member, a lawyer and brother of an incumbent mayor will complete the lineup for the PB seat.

Board Member Juan Bolo will be seeking for a second term in the first district together with Walter "Boy" Selma, brother of Minglanilla town Mayor Eddie Selma. Former board member Julian "Teban" Daan, who is allied with One Cebu and Kampi, will run as an independent candidate.

Argao town Mayor Wilfredo Caminero and Samboan Mayor Peter John Calderon will run for the PB in the second district while incumbent Toledo City councilor Ian Zambo will run alone in the third district.

In the fourth district, Joven Mondigo Jr., the son of outgoing Board Member Joven Mondigo and former PB member Jose Ribomapil "Joeyboy" Holganza Jr. are the One Cebu's candidates for the PB. PB member Mondigo will run for mayor in Medellin.

Board Members Agnes Magpale and Rosemarie Judy Durano will be seeking for another term representing the fifth district while Board Member Victor Maambong and outgoing Mandaue City councilor Weng Gakit will represent the sixth district.

For Congress, Rep. Eduardo Gullas, former governor Pablo Garcia, capitol consultant Pablo John Garcia, former PB member Benhur Salimbangon, and Reps. Ramon "Red" Durano and Nerissa Soon-Ruiz are the official candidates of One Cebu in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth district respectively.

A Mass will be held at 8:15 a.m. today at the Capitol Session Hall before the party members will file their respective certificates of candidacy. - Garry B. Lao/LPM
