Classic cars and high fashion in Gear and Glam

CEBU, Philippines - Titled "Gear and Glam: For Your Eyes Only" this year, it is a sequel to last year's successful grand cars and fashion show "Gear and Glam, Avenues of the World," which took the audience on a spectacular trip around the key cities of the world.

Again this year, the Performance and Classic Car Enthusiasts (PACE) brought in the cars reminiscent of those in James Bond movies, especially "A View to a Kill," "Diamonds are Forever," "Casino Royale," "Die Another Day," "From Russia with Love," "The World is Not Enough," among others. Top designers from the Fashion Council of Cebu (FCC) provided the fashion to match.

Last night's exhibit launch surely combined classic iconic cars and high fashion. The cars were  from the collections of Cebu car enthusiasts belonging to PACE, whose membership consists of some of the city's top business personalities. The fashion creations of Albert Arriba, Jun Escario, Oj Hofer, Mia Arcenas, Cary Santiago, Yvonne Quisumbing, Arcy Gayatin, Edwin Ao, Philip Tampus, Ditas Rodriguez, and Philip Rodriguez definitely added glimmer to the cars on display.

The event also featured performances by the SM City Cebu Orchestra, with special participation of Cebu's up-and-coming singers. It was indeed a real treat that drew a huge crowd.

The "Gear and Glam: For Your Eyes Only" exhibit runs until Sunday only, October 12,  at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu. (FREEMAN)
