100th Birth Anniversary of Marcelo Barba

If he were alive today, the late Mayor Marcelo Barba of Toledo City would have the biggest celebration for his 100th birthday anniversary.

Lovingly called by his family, friends and constituents as “Liloy”, the late Mayor Barba was well-loved in Toledo at the time he reigned as mayor for 24 years.

Coming all the way from New Jersey, USA, was dear son, Dr. Jose “Bebe” Barba who, with the support of relatives and friends marked the auspicious occasion with a lauriat dinner, program and dancing held at the Grand Convention Center in Banilad last January 16. Dear friends of Bebe like Mingming Gullas, K-2 and Lilia Obeso were special guests of the host. And there were some hundred and fifty guests attending, mostly relatives from Toledo City.

By the way, Dr. Bebe Barba has had a lucrative practice as an Oncologist in New York City. After having been Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at the Metcalf Institute of Radiation Oncology at the Hospital Center of Orange, he now holds the position as Medical Director of Virginia Harkness Sawville, Department of Radiation Oncology at Mountainside Hospital. Having been happily married to the former Dr. Fidelis Alcazaren, herself a pathologist, the couple has two children and one grandson.
