GMA Kapuso Foundation extends medical, relief assistance to different provinces

CEBU, Philippines - GMA Kapuso Foundation  (GMAKF), the sociocivic branch of broadcast company GMA Network, Inc., brought its roaming medical mission dubbed as Kalusugan Karavan to Barlig, Mt. Province and extended medical assistance to indigenous groups in the area.

This project provided the residents access to medical services that are otherwise not readily available to them, considering the remote location of their community.

Free medical consultation and medicines were given to 230 patients, while 133 individuals availed of free tooth extraction.

Kalusugan Karavan was done in partnership with the GMA Network Transmissions and Regional Engineering Department , the local government unit of Barlig, Mt. Province, District Hospital of Barlig, Rural Health Unit of Barlig, Bontoc General Hospital, PNP PHS MTPPO, and CMO 54IB 51D.

Meanwhile, the Foundation also reached out to the victims of the cholera outbreak in Catanduanes through its emergency response project Operation Bayanihan.

The team brought medicine, purified water, and other supplies to the different hospitals in the area in partnership with Agua Vida Systems, RSL Bus Lines, and Regina Shipping Lines.

The Operation Bayanihan Project is a long-running project of GMAKF that aims to provide immediate relief assistance to victims of natural and man-made calamities nationwide.

According to GMA Kapuso Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mel C. Tiangco, “We will continue to be a source of much-needed help and relief especially to those who belong to the marginalized sector - keeping in mind our mission of promoting greater equity in health, and access to medicine and relief assistance.” (FREEMAN)
