Employers told “invest on your people”

CEBU, Philippines - In the fast-paced business environment, employers are urged to take good care of their employees who are considered to be the greatest asset of the company as the latter may be vital in leading the company towards success.

LIFE Enrichment Consultancy president and best-selling author Michael Angelo Lobrin encouraged company owners to invest in their manpower if they aim to succeed in their business.

“If you really want your business to succeed, you have to invest on your people. Your biggest asset is your people, not the product,” he said.

To transcend in their businesses, he said that employers should go beyond taking good care of their employees and ensure that they address the multi-faceted aspect of their workers.

This, in turn, could lead towards paradigm shift among entrepreneurs and inspire their employees to do more and become more productive.

Lobrin added that once these employees feel that they own the business, they shall take care of it and contribute in achieving the goals of the company.

He advised executives and managers to mentor those employees who perform the best in their responsibilities.

He said that instead of feeling threatened by them; those who are already on top should not serve as antagonists in the organizations but rather play the role of coaches for those employees who have the potential to succeed like them.

“Once managers and supervisors recognize those who are better than them, they often take the latter as a threat. What they should realize rather is that good leaders duplicate themselves. As you continue to grow and improve, let others do too.Train and muster young employees. Do not kill their potentials. Be their mentors,” he stated.

“And don't just excel. Excel with sense,” Lobrin continued, adding that such practice could greatly contribute to the longevity and success of one’s business.

The inspirational speaker further recommended both employers and employees to value life at its fullest.

“There’s more to life than money. At the end of the day, your greatest asset is your life,” he said.

During the recently-concluded Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Business Summit 2013, Lobrin shared practical strategies and recommendations on how to better understand oneself and its importance in attaining both business and life success.

The MCCI Business Summit 2013 was one of the highlights of the Mandaue Business Month, the annual flagship event of MCCI that is composed of a series of activities geared towards promoting sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship.

This year’s MBM carries the theme “Engaging Change: Be Fit. Be Connected. Be Ahead”.

The business organization aims to strategically position Mandaue City to be an attractive hub for business and investment in Cebu.  — (FREEMAN)
