Alinsunurin back as Alas Men coach

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has begun delivering its promised organizational reforms with a major overhaul aimed at boosting the national teams in future international competitions.
PNVF executive director Atty. Miguel Carlos Pacifico Suarez announced sweeping changes in the Alas Pilipinas Men’s and Women’s indoor teams, while the beach volleyball squads will remain intact following their campaign in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya.
Headlining the appointments is the return of Dante Alinsunurin as head coach of Alas Men. Alinsunurin regains the post seven years after leading the men’s team to a historic silver medal in the 30th SEA Games in 2019.
He replaces Italian mentor Angiolino Frigoni, who will handle Alas Women in an interim capacity as the federation starts its long-term buildup for the 2029 FIVB World Championship that the country will host.
PNVF president Frank Lao, elected last August, will focus his resources on the men’s team through his Strong Group Athletics.
