UP wins 3rd CFA contest

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines-Diliman topped the 3rd local Investment Research Challenge (IRC) of the CFA Society of the Philippines (CFA Philippines) last Jan. 28 at the Philippine Stock Exchange Center in Ortigas, Pasig City. The team, dubbed the White Rock Investments, received a cash prize of P100,000 and will represent the country at the IRC Regionals, which will be held in Bali, Indonesia on Feb. 25. The panel of judges were composed of Theresa Marcial-Javier, senior vice president of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI); BJ Sebastian, senior vice president of JG Summit Holdings Inc.; Mark Yu, chief finance officer of Seaoil Philippines Inc.; Ginaflor Oris, managing director of Ayala Corp.; and Joel Litman, managing director of Equity Analysis & Strategy Inc. CitisecOnline Inc., BPI Asset Management, Angping & Associates Securities Inc., Seaoil Philippines Inc., the Philippine Stock Exchange Inc., and Cebu Pacific Air were among the co-sponsors.
