Ayala, FWD partner for MCX

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Corp. subsidiary AC Infra and Philippine insurer FWD Life Philippines (FWD Insurance) have partnered for the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway, now renamed as FWD-Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway or FWD-MCX.

FWD-MCX is a crucial artery between Muntinlupa and Cavite, connecting the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to Daang Hari, Cavite and regularly serving thousands of motorists and commuters.

As part of the agreement, FWD would provide one-year accidental insurance to 500 customers with a P500,000 coverage to align with FWD’s efforts to insure more Filipinos.

FWD chairman and former ambassador to the US Jose Cuisia Jr. said the expressway serves as a critical route for their operations and opens up opportunities for them to serve immediate local communities.

“This is an exciting new venture for FWD and we’re proud to pioneer a program that has never been done by a Philippine insurer,” said Peter Grimes, president and CEO of FWD.

Noel Kintanar, AC Infra chief operating officer and president of MCX Tollway Inc., for his part, expressed optimism on their partnership with FWD.

“I am confident that through this agreement, we continue to provide a safe and convenient access for residents of south Metro Manila as this part of the metro emerges as a business and lifestyle hub,” Kintanar said.

“More importantly, in collaboration with FWD, we hope to contribute in efforts to drive local economies forward,” he added.

FWD Life Insurance Corp. launched its commercial operations in September 2014. As of end-2018, FWD Life has the highest paid-up capital among life insurers in the Philippines with P2.3 billion.

The FWD Group has businesses in Hong Kong and Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan and Malaysia, offering life and medical insurance, general insurance, employee benefits, Shariah, and Family Takaful products across a number of its markets.
