BDO expands credit card offering with Diners Club

MANILA, Philippines — BDO Unibank Inc. has further expanded its extensive line-up of credit card offerings with the addition of Diners Club International together with Discover Financial Services.

Rolando Tanchanco, executive vice president and Consumer Lending Group head at BDO, said the bank already carries the most number of credit card brands and the widest range of credit cards in the country.

“As an ideal complement to our credit cards business line, we introduce the BDO Diners Club Credit Cards to further expand the dining and travel perks and privileges we offer our cardholders,“ Tanchanco said.

BDO is the exclusive issuer of Diners Club Cards in the Philippines as well as the acquirer for Diners Club International and Diners Club Philippines.

With the launch, cardholders can now take advantage of a wide range of first-rate services and benefits afforded to all BDO Credit Cardholders as well as access to over 1,200 operating branches nationwide and a large base of merchant acceptance locations.

Diners Club International extends its global merchant footprint to BDO, allowing local cardholders access to more than 28 million merchants all over the world wherever Diners Club International is accepted.

The BDO Diners Club International Credit Card and BDO Diners Club Premiere Credit Card were introduced and holders of both cards earn instant miles for every purchase, P50 to one mile and P30 to one mile, respectively.

Likewise, BDO Diners Club Premiere Credit Cardholders who have a penchant for luxury dining can avail of a special double your miles privilege for all dining merchants, local and overseas.

To complement the cards’ miles for every spend value proposition, BDO Diners Club Cardholders are entitled to enjoy a host of other travel-related benefits such as access to more than 800 airport lounges worldwide, free travel insurance as well as global offers on dining, travel and entertainment.

For her part, BDO senior vice president and Consumer Lending Group Marketing head Nannette Regala said the bank continues to address all needs of various markets and the BDO Diners Club Premiere Credit Card is obviously for the higher end market, while the BDO Diners Club International Credit Card is for a younger segment.

Regala said BDO makes sure that all its credit card brands complement each other and not to compete with each other.

“We do have clients that like to have multiple brands because we offer multiple perks with each card,” she said.

According to Regala, the credit limit for the cards would depend on the capacity of the clients to pay.

Joe Hurley, senior vice president and head of Global Business Development for Discover, said Diners Club provides the broadest airport club access with over 800 lounges, worldwide Wi-Fi product access, and privileges that allow cardholders when they travel outside of their country special benefits through discounts from global merchants.

Hurley said the company is excited to work with BDO and to offer its customers the new and improved Diners Club card product with rich features and benefits.

We’re happy to provide BDO Cardholders more choice in payments and access to acceptance around the globe on the Discover Global Network,” he said.
