NCRPO: Asean summit peaceful

MANILA, Philippines -  The country’s hosting of the four-day Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit was peaceful and orderly, police said yesterday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded zero crime during the summit, which was held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde lauded the 21 government agencies that secured the heads of state.

“We attained our zero crime goal for the event. The ASEAN summit and related meetings went on smoothly and no kinks were recorded. The almost one year of security preparations for the international event was a success,” Albayalde said.

At least 40,000 government agents were deployed for the ASEAN summit from April 26 to 29.

Albayalde said President Duterte was satisfied with the security implemented by police and military personnel since the arrival of the ASEAN leaders and other delegates.
