Online hiring up 6%

MANILA, Philippines - Online job hiring in the Philippines has gotten off to a positive start in January, posting a six percent year-on-year growth amid a stable business environment, an online research firm said.

Based on the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), January online recruitment projects a better picture of the succeeding months in the local hiring scene.

“Businesses are keen to hire in the country. Many local businesses have also chosen to set up in Philippines, and the demand for talent in the workforce is expected to see a spike across all levels,” said Sanjay Modi, Monster.com managing director for Asia-Pacific and Middle East.

Software, hardware, and telecommunication roles took the lead in online demand, reporting a 25 percent growth during the period.

The business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology (IT) sectors saw a 22 percent growth while customer service roles grew 17 percent.
