Smart launches Pasa-Load

Following the successful launch of the OTA (over-the-air) reloading service SmartLoad this year, leading wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. has introduced another innovative service that enables Smart and Talk ‘N Text prepaid subscribers to pass on to each other P10 of their own airtime balances.

Called Pasa-Load, the service allows airtime transfer by just keying in the MIN (mobile phone identification number) of the recipient and sending it to access number 808.

"This is another world first, an offshoot of the highly successful SmartLoad," said Napoleon Nazareno, Smart president and CEO.

PasaLoad is a service that is more like peer-to-peer. When somebody is zero load, another person can give him/her a P10 airtime pack.

The P10 denomination has a 24-hour load expiry and will be treated separately from the other prepaid balances that the subscriber has. The sender, on the other hand, will be debited P11 from his available load balance. The extra peso is for the SMS transfer fee.

Smart has been offering OTA reloading since the introduction of Smart Money, an electronic cash card linked to a phone, in 2000. Using the cash card, Smart cell phone users can reload their prepaid Buddy phones in amounts ranging from P250 to P1,000 at any given time.

In May, Smart introduced SmartLoad, allowing customers to buy airtime in tingi. SmartLoad offered loads in variants of P30, P60, P115, and P200 and is today among retail stores’ fastest selling goods.

PasaLoad takes electronic loading a step forward by offering the lowest prepaid load transfer in the market and allowing subscribers to pass on loads to each other.
