MANILA, Philippines (Updated 9:15 pm) — Filipino boxer and senator Manny Pacquiao is back in the country, a day after his controversial defeat in Australia.

He arrived at the General Santos International Airport Monday and was given welcome honors by Police Regional Office 12 of the Philippine National Police.

The 38-year-old Pacquiao absorbed an upset loss to Australian Jeff Horn in their 12-round welterweight title fight in Brisbane, Australia Sunday.

The loss was a controversial one as statistics showed Pacquiao landing more punches against his Australian contender, 182-92.

Pacquiao, however, said he accepts the decision of the judges and is looking forward for a rematch.

"I didn't expect that. But it's part of the game. I respect that." he said.

His trainer Freddie Roach, meanwhile, said he will discuss with Pacquiao whether to continue fighting or retiring.

"Because I think maybe being a senator and being a fighter, both is just maybe too much." he said.

Pacquiao yielded the WBO welterweight title to the undefeated Horn.

(Editor's note: It was initially reported that Pacquiao was given military honors but the ceremony was by the Philippine National Police. The story has been updated for accuracy.)
