Sharks take out Warriors in OT

MANILA, Philippines - Manoj Chandumal hit a triple at the buzzer in regulation then Rahul Motwani took over in overtime as the Sharks rallied from 23 points down to stun the Warriors, 80-68, in sudden death in the 2014 FIBL Canadian Cup Playoffs at the Ynares Sports Arena recently.

Chandumal earlier split his charities to bring the Sharks to within three in regulation then after a Warriors’ turnover, the two-time Finals MVP drilled in a trey over two defenders to send the game into overtime.

Motwani then stepped up in the extra period, scoring six points spiked by a clutch triple as the Sharks took a 74-67 lead with just two minutes remaining in the contest. The Sharks then held the Warriors to a single a point the rest of the way en route to their third straight finals stint in the league generously sponsored by the Canadian, makers of quality bed linens, pillows and towels.

Chandumal finished with a game-high 29 points, while Motwani added 15 markers to pace the Sharks’ charge. Perjinder Sidhu returned from a three-game absence to turn in a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds while Ken Pessumal added 15 boards.

Mukesh Mohnani and Prateek Chandnani led the Warriors with 14 points each but the Warriors wavered in the face of the big Sharks’ comeback. Lavesh Chandnani added 11 points, while Parmdeep Brar had nine markers and 23 rebounds.
