Martial law victims abroad may file complaints online

MANILA, Philippines - Martial Law human rights violations victims living outside the country may start filing claims without traveling back to the Philippines.

 

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Human Rights Victims' Claims Board (HRVCB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement to provide assistance to legitimate applicants abroad.

 

According to HRVCB, sworn statements/affidavits and special powers of attorney that have not been notarized may be scanned and sent by email for pre-evaluation but notarized original copies must be submitted at the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate afterwards.

 

Claimants may send scanned copies of required documents such as the filled-out application form and sworn statement or affidavits to [email protected] until November 10.

 

The claims board will "immediately check these documents for completeness and advise claimants accordingly via email," the DFA media release said.
