Dano fires Tilhaong to SK-B title in Consolacion hoopla
CEBU, Philippines - Daryl Dano sparkled with 34 points as Tilhaong blasted Tolotolo, 85-77, to snare the SK juniors category B crown of the 6th Mayor Teresa P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
Harvey Cabahug banged in 18 points while Junard Apao added 16 points for Tilhaong, which never looked back after taking an early 28-17 lead.
Keeping its composure on the way to a 48-37 edge at halftime, Tilhaong staged its second wave of attack in the third quarter to post a huge 19-point lead, 70-51, going into the final 10-minute mark of the contest.
Tilhaong then survived a spirited endgame figthback by Tolotolo to scrape though an eight-point victory.
Ranzel Quijano paced Tolotolo with 23 points, while Teodoro Inoc and Jessie Bathan had 16 and 15 markers, respectively, in a losing effort.
Games of the month-long tournament are under the supervision of commissioner Paul Alelu Q. Flores, a former standout of the FEU Tamaraws alongside PBA superstrar MVP Arwind Santos during their UAAP days.
The overall committee chairman of the event is Liga ng mga Barangay President Roy Linaboc. He is co-chaired by SB members Marilou P. Casul and Benjamin "Boy" Tibon.
Held as a runup to the annual fiesta celebration of Consolacion in honor of their beloved patron San Narciso on October 29, the annual spectacle is supported by Consolacion LGU led by Mayor Teresa Alegado and Vice Mayor Dr. Rey Damole along with SB members JoyJoy Alegado, Nelia Ermac, Elenito Palang, Brando Cuizon, Victor Maglasang and Alfie Ouano.
