MANILA, Philippines — A man in Romblon was hacked to death after trying to mediate in an argument involving his brother-in-law.
According to a report on Romblon News Network, Roland Merida Roña, 39, was trying to ease tensions between his brother-in-law Sandro Magango and another man, Samuel Madla.
Police said Magango was drinking with his father and two cousins at home when Madla arrived and confronted him. To keep the argument from escalating, Roña tried to mediate but instead earned Magango's ire.
Magango allegedly then hacked at Roña with a bolo.
Roña, who was hit in different parts of the body, was rushed to the Romblon District Hospital but died while being treated.
The Romblon Municipal Police Station under Senior Inspector Gemie Mallen arrested Magango and confiscated his bolo. He faces a murder charge over his brother-in-law's death.
