Cop nabbed for rape

LAGUNA, Philippines – A police officer was arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in Barangay Pansol, Calamba, Laguna on Wednesday.

Senior Police Officer 3 Ronald Sherwin Canson was collared after the victim filed a complaint.

The victim said she just visited her father, an inmate at the Calamba police detention cell, when Canson offered her a ride.  Instead of bringing her home, she said the policeman brought her to the Garden Inn Hotel, where the alleged rape occurred.

After the incident, the victim said Canson dropped her off in Barangay Halang. It was at this point that she contacted a relative to seek police assistance.

Rape charges are being readied against the policeman.
