Sara Duterte goes on leave

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has designated her brother Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte as officer-in-charge as she went on leave for 22 days starting yesterday. 

“I was instructed by the mayor to review the contracts of job order employees and other related documents so that there will be no vacuum.  I was also designated to prepare the 2017 budget, review the Kadayawan preparations and ensure the continuity of all pending projects,” Paolo told a press conference yesterday.

He did not say why Sara went on leave.

“She will answer that. Maybe on Monday she will call a press conference,” he said.

A report on GMA News quoted Sara as saying that she is ”on VL for personal reasons.”

Paolo said his siblings and other family members have yet to return from Manila after attending the inauguration of President Duterte.
