Video of traffic enforcer tasing motorist goes viral

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A video showing a traffic enforcer using a taser on a motorist in Cavite has gone viral on social media.

The video posted by a certain Kheo Avejar showed a group of enforcers, and a sales manager and his passengers arguing over a supposed traffic violation in Bacoor City on Thursday.

Avejar’s video earned more than 7,600 ‘likes’ and shared by more than 26,600 Facebook users.

City police Superintendent Noel Aliño told The STAR that no one has so far filed a complaint in connection with the incident, and that he ordered his men to look into the video.

In the video, the sales manager, who was driving the vehicle, was asking the four traffic enforcers what violation he committed.

The driver refused to park his vehicle at the side of the road unless the enforcers explain his violation.

One of the enforcers was heard saying that the motorist was hardheaded. This was followed by the sound of a taser gun and the screams of a man.

One of the passengers was heard saying “Harassment yan, sir.”

Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla has suspended the traffic enforcers pending investigation.

Revilla ordered the enforcers to undergo physical, medical and drug tests. He said the enforcers have been briefed and trained before they were accepted for the job.
