Gilbert Bayoran - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  – A radio broadcaster was arrested for allegedly killing his wife in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday night.

Mody Andalina, block timer of MBC Radyo Natin, was collared when a caliber .22 revolver  was found tucked in his waist when he went to the police station at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday to report about the incident. He claimed his wife died because they were ambushed.

Two bullets and three bullet shells were also reportedly recovered from the Andalina.

Virginia, 33, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Lopez District Foundation Hospital.

Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, Sagay City police chief, said Andalina appeared to be drunk.

Corpuz said they received reports that prior to the incident, the couple had an altercation and that Andalina accidentally fired his gun.

Initial investigation showed the victim was shot at close range.

Corpuz said Andalina would be subjected to a paraffin test to determine if he had fired a gun.
