LPA spotted off Surigao del Sur
MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau yesterday warned against possible flooding and landslides in some parts of the country due to rains triggered by two weather systems.
Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao would experience moderate to heavy rains due to the trough of a low-pressure area, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was at 540 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
The weather system, however, is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The Bicol region, Marinduque and Romblon will also experience moderate to heavy rains due to the tail end of a cold front.
The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, will continue to bring light rains over the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, today.
PAGASA weather forecaster Obet Badrina said the northeast monsoon is likely to weaken in the next three days.
Temperatures in Metro Manila will range from 23 to 33 degrees Celsius.
In Baguio City, Badrina said, temperatures are expected to go up slightly from 13 to 23 degrees Celsius.
In Metro Cebu, temperatures will range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius and in Metro Davao, 23 to 33 degrees Celsius.
