For Kris, 2 is enough
Prone to gestational diabetes and hypertension while pregnant, which can be hazardous to the baby, Kris Aquino can’t have another baby after James Jr.
“It’s okay,” Kris told Funfare. “Two is enough.”
Her first son, Joshua, is turning 12 on June 14.
“When I’m pregnant,” Kris continued, “my blood pressure shoots up and so does my blood sugar, and all other complications set in. It happened during my two pregnancies and it could happen again.”
Her second pregnancy was life-threatening. Kris nearly lost her life. Good thing her pulmonary embolism was arrested. Her blood pressure and blood sugar are under control.
Weighing only four pounds when delivered by Caesarian section last April 19, Baby James has gained more than two pounds and, as per doctor’s advice, must gain at least two pounds every month. Kris’ milk is working.
“I breastfeed Baby James all the time, that’s why he’s getting healthier,” said Kris who accepted “donations” from nursing moms because she doesn’t have enough milk. “Mother’s milk is the best. As I’ve said, I really admire moms who breastfeed.”
Initially scared to do so, Papa James now carries and cuddles Baby James. This early, father and son are beautifully bonding.
Since air pressure is bad for her, Kris cannot travel in the next three months. But anytime now, she will start taping for her ABS-CBN show Deal Or No Deal which stopped airing when she went on maternity leave in March. Because of her still delicate condition — “And since I have to breastfeed Baby James” — Kris will not resume co-hosting her two other ABS-CBN shows, The Buzz and Pilipinas, Game KNB? (now hosted by Edu Manzano).
