Tropical Storm Paolo to enter PAR

MANILA, Philippines — A new tropical storm with the international name "Lan" is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility tonight after Typhoon Odette left the country, PAGASA said.

The new weather disturbance named “Paolo” was spotted at around 1,040 kilometers east of Visayas at 3 p.m.

It is expected to move west-northwest at around 11 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of up to 80 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kilometers per hour.

No tropical cyclone warning signal has been issued yet but the public is advised to take precautionary measures.

A low pressure area was also located at 115 kilometers west-northwest of Coron, Palawan at 3 p.m. embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Due to the LPA/ITCZ, Eastern Visayas and Palawan will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains with thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Central and Western Visayas and Occidental Mindoro will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Light to moderate rains are forecast to affect Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, southern Quezon and portions of Nueva Ecija, Zambales and Batangas. 

The weather bureau said one to two cyclones are predicted to enter the country this month.
