‘Multilateral approach needed to honor sea row ruling’
MANILA, Philippines – Former foreign affairs secretary Albert del Rosario believes that the Philippines can engage in a friendly dialogue with China but a multilateral approach must be made with countries that supported the legal track to bring the South China Sea dispute before the Arbitral Tribunal.
He said it would be a significant movement to convince China to honor the ruling.
“That is really up to us how to posture ourselves,” he said.
“As I said we need to consolidate, get our friends together who have helped us, get closer to them because we need them. We cannot do this alone.”
Del Rosario spoke to reporters at a symposium “Post Arbitration Series: A Focus on the Harm Done to the Environment” at the De La Salle University in Manila on Thursday.
