PNoy meets with labor leaders ahead of May 1
MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday talked to leaders of workers' groups ahead of the Labor Day celebrations this week.
In an earlier statement, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the event served as an avenue for labor groups to discuss relevant concerns with members of Aquino's Cabinet.
"It is hoped that this discussion will foster greater cooperation among the various groups in order to better serve the Filipino workforce, the backbone of the country," Lacierda said.
According to the Palace official, Aquino will visit various manufacturing facilities at the end of the week in celebration of Labor Day.
Based on Aquino's schedule, he will attend a series of events in Laguna. On May 2, he will travel to Bohol to assess the province’s progress in terms of labor and employment after the earthquake last year.
"These visits highlight the administration’s commitment to a strong economy and its capacity to generate jobs and livelihood as we pursue our agenda of inclusive growth," Lacierda said.
