Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran lead AMA nominees
Bruno gets a total of eight nominations including Artist of the Year award
Ed, Kendrick Lamar and Drake receive five nods
The names of nominees at the 2017 American Music Awards have been released and the AMA is under fire. Why so? This is because the major categories like Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and others have only male nominees. The females are in uproar. What happened? Has the AMA gone sexist?
I believe that it was simply because the quality and success (this is because it is the public who votes for the AMA winners) of the products from the girls just did not measure up to the output of the likes of Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, The Chainsmokers, etc. And although you may side with the females, you have to agree that the line-up of these guys this year is immensely formidable.
I am all for equality of the sexes. Females should be entitled to the same pay and opportunities as men. But this stops where creation is concerned. This is where we, girls, should do battle on the same level. So if the AMA needed to have five nominees for a category, I see no reason why two or three should go to a female just because of her sex when there are two or three men who are more deserving.
And leading the pack of the most deserving at the AMAs this year is no other but Bruno Mars who got a total of eight nominations and no one can be more deserving. I can already sight some Grammy trophies for the Mars’ 24K Magic next year. But for now though, it is voting for the AMA that his fans need to attend to.
Not too far behind with five nods each are Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar and Drake, followed by The Chainsmokers, The Weeknd and Justin Bieber with the record-breaking duo of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee and the stellar collaborators of DJ Khaled, Quavo, Lil Wayne and Chance the Rapper.
Now, I love Lady Gaga but I do not think her Joanne is up to the level of what these guys came up with this year. So sorry girls. And here now is the controversial list of AMA nominees.

The 2017 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 19. I am sure that a local TV channel will air the show and we will get to watch it live on Monday morning. But I do not know which one will as of this writing, so try to keep yourselves posted. The AMA always puts up an entertaining show with lots of surprises.
