Arron almost gave up on acting

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

The lives of the celebrities seem picture perfect, but we know they aren’t.  Perfect couple Brangelina just filed for divorce recently.

Even the biggest superstars have their own issues to deal with. Some are better at hiding their struggles than others. In the case of Arron Villaflor, he almost quit showbiz four years ago because he felt like his career was going nowhere. And no one outside his inner circle had an inkling that he was in pain. Arron had become a master at hiding his worries under a cheerful grin and his usual happy-go-lucky demeanor.

?Luckily, his family and friends rallied behind him. Buoyed by their love and support, he managed to pull himself together. He doubled down on his career, working practically around the clock to make sure he’d never feel low about himself — or his showbiz prospects — ever again.

?It may have been easier for Arron to walk away from it all when he wanted to, but he didn’t. Because if he did, Kapamilyas all over the world would’ve been denied the chance to watch him shine in the hit teleseryes Juan Dela Cruz, Pure Love and All of Me. What’s more, he wouldn’t have been able to sign on to play Paeng Alegre, the rebellious musician son of the long-suffering Gloria Alegre (played by veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez) in the family drama The Greatest Love.

?“I am thankful to be part of the teleserye,” Arron says. “The Greatest Love teleserye is for the entire family and everyone can relate to it.”

?According to him, Sylvia, who plays the character Gloria, has strained relationships with most of her children. In the case of his character Paeng, he and his mother are mostly civil towards each other. But they clash over one thing: Paeng’s passion for music.

?“Paeng is an excellent musician at namana niya ito sa tatay niya. But Gloria does not want Paeng to follow in his father’s footsteps. And this causes the conflict between Gloria and Paeng,” he reveals.

?One of the best things about Arron is that he’s a student of life. For instance, when he was cast as Dr. Henry Nieves in All of Me, Arron didn’t just stop at memorizing his lines and the like. He did research to better prepare for his role, because Arron wanted to be as convincing as possible. Fans can expect him to bring the same kind of commitment to The Greatest Love.

Arron says The Greatest Love is a must-watch because it will teach children a lot about what it means to be a parent, particularly a mother. “Children and young people should watch the show, especially those who believe that they have no obligations to their parents,” he says. “In the teleserye, we will show the world that a mother’s obligation to her children never stops even if a child feels that he is not obligated to his mother,” Arron adds.

?Arron has gotten wiser over the years, and has put his dark days firmly behind him.
