Kathryn Bernardo considers Daniel Padilla as her ‘protector’

MANILA, Philippines – A “protector” – this is how Kathryn Bernardo sees onscreen partner and rumored boyfriend Daniel Padilla.

“Parang labas si DJ dun kasi parang lahat ‘yon nasa kanya,” she replied when asked if she can categorize Daniel in the classification of friends found in her book “Everyday Kath,” in an interview on Sunday after its launch.

“Kasi para siyang tatay na kaibigan mo na ewan. ‘Yong 10 na ‘yon siguro sa mga friends ko mag-a-apply na iba-iba ‘yong personalities namin pero na-drive kami together, ‘yon talaga ‘yong perfect combination. Then si DJ parang wala siya dun sa top 10 na ‘yon,” she explained.

When asked about the Kapamilya actor's role in her life, the “Teen Queen” replied, “siya ‘yong parang best na pwede mong sabihan ng secrets and then mag-a-advice sa ’yo na di ka i-judge.”

“Siya ‘yong mag-protect sa ‘yo kung sino ‘yong umaway sa ‘yo or something,” she added.

Now that she bid the teenage years goodbye as she turned 20, she learned from Daniel to be strong in whatever challenge that life brings.

“Before kasi medyo fragile ako, e,” she admitted. “Pero because of all the experiences before I think I’ve learned a lot. And kailangan talaga maging strong ka para mas ready ka to face everyone and para rin sa sarili mo.”

“I’m really thankful na andyan si DJ from day one hanggang ngayon,” she added, smiling. “Nandyan siya to support me… gano’n naman kami, sinusuportahan namin ang isa’t isa.”

Kathryn and Daniel will soon start working on a film that will be shot in Spain.
