Alex Gonzaga: 'Inday Bote' role a dream come true

MANILA, Philippines - It's a dream come true for Alex Gonzaga as she plays Diamond Star Maricel Soriano's famous character "Inday."

“Every project is a dream come true. Kasi you’ll never know hanggang kailan ka dito sa showbiz, e. So as long as binibigyan ka ng trabaho it’ll always be special. You’ll always feel na you have a reason to stay,” said Alex in an interview on Tuesday.

Alex will star in ABS-CBN's new series "Inday Bote," which starts airing on March 16 before the network's primetime news TV Patrol.

The Kapamilya actress is anticipating that she will be compared with Maricel Soriano. She clarified, however, that the TV adaptation of the film is be very much different because it is based on the comics by Pablo Gomez.

“Kasi iba po ito sa movie, kasi ‘yong story po nito is based sa komiks,” she said. “Dito sa Inday dati na nilang kilala ‘yong character, pero ipapakilala nila sa mga bata ulit. ‘Tas siyempre pinagpe-pray natin na magustuhan nila ‘yong bagong character na ipapakita ni Inday.”

Alex is joined by Matteo Guidicelli and Kean Cipriano in the TV series. Alex was once linked to Kean, but she was quick to clarify that they’ve already settled everything and remained friends.

“I think mas okay ngayon kasi since kilala ko na si Kean, so alam ko kung hanggang saan ang friendship namin,” she relates. “Ako naman kasi ang hirap kasi ng nagtatrabaho ka tapos may distraction. ‘Yong may iba kang feeling or mag-feeling ka. So nagkakaro’n ng ilangan, hindi ka komportable.”

Although single for almost two years now, Alex is in no rush to find Mr. Right, especially since her career is doing very well.

“I’m loving life, that’s my love life,” she said. “Kasi hindi mo puwedeng pilitin ang isang bagay na hindi para sa iyo. Katulad na lang ng Inday Bote, hindi ko naman ipinilit, ibinigay na lang sa akin. So kung para sa iyo, para sa iyo. So gano’n din siguro ang love life.”
