MMFF 2014: Vice Ganda commends Richard Yap's performance in 'The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin'

MANILA, Philippines - Vice Ganda stars on his fourth Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “The Amazing Praybeyt Bejamin.”

 

It is the sequel to his first MMFF entry in 2011,“The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin.” The following year, he starred with Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai delas Alas in the film “Sisterakas.” On his third year, he played four different roles in the film “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy.”

 

Vice's box-office record will be put to test as he is up against two of his former co-stars: Derek who's part of “English Only Please,” and Kris who stars in “Feng Shui 2,” the sequel to her horror film “Feng Shui.”

 

In this year's entry, Vice teams up with Richard Yap, who became more popular through the ABS-CBN TV shows “My Binondo Girl” where he was called as “Papa Chen,” and in the recently concluded “Be Careful with My Heart” where he played the role of Sir Chief.

 

The Kapamilya comedian commended Yap's performance in the comedy film, despite being known for portraying serious roles. 

 

“Nakakatawa! Surprisingly nakakatawa siya,” Vice said about Yap. “Niloko ko nga siya, e, sabi ko, 'natakot ako kasi mamaya matapos 'tong pelikulang 'to mas nakakatawa ka sa akin, e.' Kasi nakakatwa talaga siya na hindi ko inasahan.”

 

Meanwhile, Vice admitted that they would like their film to be a blockbuster, but some think that this will be a challenge because he'll be up against a lot of hit-making stars including Vic Sotto who's starring in “My Big Bossing's Adventures.”

 

The comedian, however, remains positive.

 

“'Yong pressure kailangan i-take mo nang postibo sa sarili mo, hindi ka puwede kainin ng pressure, ‘di ba? Kailangan maging inspirasyon ang pressure. At saka alam naman ng Diyos kung anong intensyon namin sa proyektong 'to, e. Kaya hindi ito papabayaan ng Diyos.”

 

Joining Vice and Richard in the cast are Alex Gonzaga, James “Bimby” Yap Jr., and Tom Rodriguez. It is directed by Wenn de Ramas and produced by ABS-CBN Productions (Star Cinema) and VIVA Productions.
