Jasmine Curtis-Smith considers 2014 her most eventful year

MANILA, Philippines - Jasmine Curtis-Smith considers 2014 as an eventful year when it comes to her showbiz career.

“It has been eventful. It has been an emotional roller coaster for me more than 2013, more than any other year I experienced, in terms of showbiz,” she told Philstar.com and other members of the press at an event for the movie 'Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo' recently.

“Of course, so many things happened in my life that the public was able to see. Alam mo 'yun, na-dissect na nila 'yung buhay ko this year,” Jasmine added.

It can be remembered that the TV5 actress faced two controversies this year. Last April, it was reported that Jasmine’s sister Anne Curtis confronted her boyfriend Sam Concepcion at a birthday party. This created talks that the ABS-CBN actress does not approve of the singer-actor for her younger sister.

In November, Jasmine was also involved in Daniel Padilla’s Youtube audio scandal.

But 20-year-old actress said her ordeals this year helped her learn how to handle negative showbiz issues.

“Doon ako natuto ma-overcome 'yung feeling na kailangan ko binigay 'yung atensyon ko sa ganito, 'yung nase-separate ko na kung ano 'yung pinakaimportante sa buhay ko. Saka kung may lumalabas na isyu, kung paano ko mai-hahandle ito,” she said.

Jasmine added: “This year ako natuto. Mahirap pala siya. But once you learn, you’re more able to calm yourself down, focus on your work.”

The young actress is part of the Robin Padilla-starrer Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo, an entry in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. This is the first time she will be part of the annual movie fest after being in show business for four years. She took part in a couple of independent film festivals in the past.

“Syempre, gusto ko naman maikot lahat ng film festivals,” she said. “And si Tito Robin pa ang nag-invite sa akin na maging part ng movie niya, so masaya. Alam kong inisip ako para maisali sa film fest.”

She hopes to do more films in 2015.

“Steady lang sana, more than anything. Kung hindi siya steady, paakyat pa sana ng konti,” Jasmine said of her wish for her showbiz career next year. “Pero masaya na naman ako sa progreso ng career ko ngayon kasi kahit papaano, meron akong trabaho, hindi ako nababakante.”

“Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo” opens in theaters on December 25.
