MANILA, Philippines – Piolo Pascual admits he is thinking of retiring when he's finally settled down and married.
“Gusto ko 24/7, kapag kailangan ako ng asawa ko, ng mga anak ko, hindi ako mamimili kung trabaho ako o personal na buhay,” he told members of the entertainment media in a press conference recently.
But settling down is still far in the horizon for Piolo's future; the ABS-CBN talent explains as he chooses to focus on his career.
“I can't have the time and I don't have the time to be in a relationship right now because even for myself wala akong oras. So, practical lang kumbaga,” Piolo explained.
He added, “That's why I think of retirement because I want to be able to be fair to myself also and give myself more time to become my own person who can be independent and private na hindi kailangan magtrabaho every day.”
Still, Piolo admits it can get lonely being single.
The 37-year-old actor's last relationship was with actress KC Concepcion. He was linked to Shaina Magdayao, but the two maintained they are just friends.
“When I signed on for another two years, I said to myself, 'For now, kalma ka muna, trabaho ka na muna, 'wag ka munang magrebelde, 'wag ka munang gumawa ng ibang bagay.' So, pinakasalan ko ulit ang trabaho ko,” he said.
Piolo added, “It's hard waking up each day alone each day na wala kang katabi, matutulog ka mag-isa ka lang. Mahirap po talaga.”
“But sabi ko nga, at least I'm busy. Pag wala akong trabaho, nasa bahay ako, I do my errands, I pay my bills, I go on vacations. Pero hindi ko po talaga kayang pagsabayin.”
Piolo is part of the upcoming ABS-CBN soap opera “Hawak Kamay” with Iza Calzado and Nikki Gil.
