CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Marathon, one of the biggest and most-acclaimed running events in the country, will have major changes for its 11th edition slated on January 14 next year.

Chief among them is the venue as the race will now be held at the Cebu Business Park instead of the Cebu IT Park, its home since its inception in 2007.

The organizing Cebu Executive Runners Club has also changed the technical team as RunRio will no longer be part of the event. The annual tilt will now be ran Joel Juarez of Coco Running and Kenneth Casquejo of Kinetic Run.

In addition, 2xU and New Balance will be introduced as the event's newest corporate backers. 2xU has long been sponsoring triathletes, but they will venture into marathon this time.

Next year’s CCM will still have four distances: the 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K.

A special registration that will accommodate the 21K and 42K is set on July 28-30 at the Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu.

Entry fee is pegged at P1,100 for the 21K and P1,400 for the 42K inclusive of a limited edition 2xU race shirt, timing chip, finisher’s medal, sling bag, emroided towel and an accident insurance.

The first 200 onsite registrants will get an Ayala Cinema movie pass, New Balance coupon and other freebies.

2XU will give big discounts on their compression items while New Balance will give away prizes to those who can perform some specified challenges like flexibility and push-ups upon registration.

One may also enlist online via www.cebumarathon.ph. (FREEMAN)
