CESAFI hoop stars collide today

CEBU, Philippines - The East forces will once again take on their West rivals  as the 16th Cebu School Athletic Foundation, Inc. Basketball All-Star Games take place today at the Cebu Coliseum.

Showtime starts at 1 pm.

In the collegiate battle, the East squad of coach Mike Reyes will be bannered by two-time MVP Mark Jayven Tallo, Bernie Bregondo, Shaq Imperial, Jovanie Luz, Ian Ortega, and Quentin Nzuzi of the Southwestern University-Phinma Cobras.

They will be joined by Conrad Catapusan, Lucky Ecarma, Ian Tagapan, Kevin Oleodo and Victor Rabat of the University of San Carlos Warriors, Peter Codilla, Justine Dacalos, Garciano Puerto and Gileant Delator of the University of Cebu Webmasters and John Lucena and Marlo Pono of the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats.

They will go up against the Albert Alocillo-mentored West side composed of Rey Suerte, Alfred Codilla, Sosue Segumpan, Jan Soliva, Jerome Napao and Bassieru Sackor of the University of the Visayas Green Lancers,  Ralph Dinolan, Miguel Gastador, Jaybie Mantilla, and Nelvin Navarra of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars and Lyndon Colina, Roy Quiachon and Gilberto Sastrillas of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers.

In the juniors level, the East is powered by Jed Colonia, Eroll Pastor, Christian Manaytay, Travis Mantua and Andrew Velasco of three-time defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles.

They will play alongside Don Bosco's John Damolo, Juan Miguel de la Torre and Al Mendez, Cebu Eastern College’s Kaise Dave Manlapat, Harvey Sanchez and James Tempra, SWU-Phinma's Patrick Montaño and Diether Quijada and USC's Rafael Garro and Gerald Iñigo.

Team West, on the other hand, is manned by UV's Jancork Cabahug, Froiland Maglasang, Marvin Oche and Mike Bayaton, UC's John Cuyos, Yannick Enriquez, Luigi Gabisan and Gelmart Umpad, USJ-R's Dave Ando, John Gonzaga and Joshua Ortiz, USPF's Gabriel Cometa and Vincent Lequin and CIT-U's Marion Abinuman and Ivan Ares.

The 3-point shootout and Slam Dunk contest will be staged in between games. (FREEMAN)
