Benting, Llerin top Press Freedom Run
CEBU, Philippines - Venus Benting and Hanz Llerin emerged as the fastest runners among media practitioners to rule their respective division in this year’s Press Freedom Run at the Cebu Business Park grounds yesterday.
Benting of Cebu Daily News outsmarted ABS-CBN’s Bayani Alvarez for the spot in the men’s 5K with the time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Alvarez posted 19:82. Dino Tantan of The Freeman wound up third with 23:29 clocking.
In the distaff side, Llerin of Sunstar Cebu took home the championship with the time of 29:51, followed by The Freeman’s Flora Mata (36:30) and Suzette Dionela (39:19).
In the women’s 3K action, Pia Noreen Bilar of Sunstar won the first place honors in 21:20, while The Freeman’s Divine Ngujo bagged the second place in 21:31.
Emerald Quiapo, also from The Freeman, wound up third in 22:02.
In the men's bracket, The Freeman’s Julius Panerio clinched the title with the time of 13:28, while Andres Lanchinebre (14:09) and Robert Aniñon (14:29) occupied the next two spots. (FREEMAN)
