CEBU, Philippines - Real estate developers and telecommunications companies pledged their support for the development and implementation of the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) Roadmap 2022 – a comprehensive 6-year plan to chart the growth course of the industry – as the country’s thriving information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector continues to grow and even more countries express interest in the Philippines as a solid investment destination.

At IBPAP’s recent General Membership Assembly Meeting (GMAM), Chairman of the Board, Dan Reyes said, “With the advent of digital, IT-BPM is creating more opportunities in the areas of mid to high complex work, analytics, intelligent automation, and new models of service delivery. With our scale and mature foundation of IT-BPM experience, the domain expertise we have developed, and our deep pool of highly educated, adaptive, young workforce, we have the opportunity to continue to gain market share and move up the value chain as IT-BPM services further evolve with disruptive technology.” He further stressed, “Realizing this opportunity, however, requires creating the right ecosystem through collaborative partnerships that will facilitate our journey to moving up the value chain.”

Industry enablers and IBPAP’s property and telecommunications partners Ayala Land, Double Dragon Properties, Federal Land, Filinvest, Globe Telecom, Leechiu Property Consultants, Megaworld, PLDT, Profriends, Robinsons Land, and SM Prime Holdings joined the Roadmap initiative and maintain their commitment to further support the growth of the sector by continuously aligning with IT-BPM companies’ needs and ICT demands as they continue to expand into areas outside Metro Manila, transforming previously untapped and undeveloped localities into bustling IT-BPM hubs.

The property and communications sectors are preparing for the exponential growth the Philippines is expecting as, according to research partner Frost & Sullivan’s preliminary findings, the industry is expected to grow up to more than 700,000 seats in the next 5 to 6 years.

“All these years, our roadmap partners have been our strong allies in building the industry through connectivity and building robust, world class 24/7 communities that IT-BPM companies need. They continue to play a crucial role as the 1.2 million strong industry charts its course over the next 6 years,” said Benedict Hernandez, Chairman of IBPAP’s Executive Committee.“Our collaboration and partnership will remain key to realizing the new roadmap ambitions, especially as we focus even more on countryside development,” he added.

Countryside development is one of the highlights of discussions as it is key to inclusive growth, which is part of the socio-economic agenda of the government.Hence, industry members are very interested in understanding what the capabilities are outside of Metro Manila and how they can continue to work in partnership with local governments.

Putting up better quality buildings and infrastructure for business, residential, and leisure purposes – township and smart-city living wherein communities foster the live, work, play, and learn model – and stepping up to the challenge of creating an ecosystem that will sustain more inclusive growth for the IT-BPM sector, the real estate and telecommunications partners will not only be providing better facilities for IT-BPM hubs in the Next Wave Cities, but will also be creating employment and other opportunities for marginalized Filipinos as well.

“The new Roadmap will show how all industry stakeholders can work as one, our sights focused on a single goal – which is to create an enabling ecosystem that will nurture the needs of the industry in the areas of education, business environment, and country-wide development,” added Reyes.
