MANILA, Philippines — Megaworld Corp., the Andrew Tan-led property developer, is pouring in P8 billion to develop its latest integrated lifestyle development, The Hamptons Caliraya, in the next 10 years.

The 300-hectare estate, to rise in the sprawling Lumban-Cavinti area in Laguna, will be called The Hamptons Caliraya. It will have lakeside residential villages and villas, a town center, two 18-hole golf courses and clubhouse.

There will also be a Marina Club that offers a wide range of water sports activities such as boating, jet ski and kayaking, as well as a shophouse district and resort hotel district.

Another highlight of the estate is the 11-hectare Hamptons Village, which is a  lakeside residential village with lots ranging from 500 square meters to 2,100 square meters. The village, which will have close access to the lake and the proposed Marina Club development, will have its own clubhouse and a private Marina.

Glenn Heraldo, vice president for sales and marketing of Megaworld Global-Estate Inc. said the development’s key highlight is Lake Caliraya as the community revolves around the lakeside concept.

This, he said, is inspired by The Hamptons New York, which has become a major vacation spot for America’s well-heeled crowd.

Aside from having an exclusive, upscale residential community, The Hamptons Caliraya is also envisioned to be another tourist destination in the South.

Aside from Lake Caliraya, the community will also enjoy the refreshing views of Mt. Banahaw from afar.

With the launch of the Caliraya estate, Megaworld now has 23 townships and integrated lifestyle communities across the country, six of which are being developed by Global Estate Resorts Inc. in Boracay, Tagaytay, Cavite-Laguna, Las Piñas City and Antipolo.

Among these are the 18.5-hectare Eastwood City in Quezon City, which is the first cyberpark in the Philippines; the 25-hectare Newport City in Pasay City; the 34.5-hectare McKinley West; the 50-hectare McKinley Hill, the 15.4-hectare Uptown Bonifacio and the five-hectare Forbes Town Center in Fort Bonifacio; the 28.8-hectare The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu; the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao, Iloilo; the 12.3-hectare Arcovia City in Pasig; the 31-hectare Westside City; the 53-hectare Northill Gateway and 34-hectare The Upper East in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

It is also building a new central business district in General Trias, Cavite in the likes of the iconic and sprawling Makati CBD with total project sales of commercial lots estimated to reach P9 billion.

The newest CBD in Cavite, the Maple Grove Commercial District, will have a size of 35 hectares and will be within the 140-hectare Maple Grove Township. It is targeted for completion in 2022.                  – Iris Gonzales
