Globe names new IT security head

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. has appointed Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio as its new chief information security officer (CISO) and data protection officer (DPO).

Bonifaco would report to the company’s chief technology and information officer and would act as chairman of the lnformation Security and Privacy Committee in Management.

“The role of CISO is responsible to the Globe executive team and various businesses, the audit committee and the overall board of directors for providing guidance, leadership, and management related to the risks on confidentiality or loss of information technology assets, customer information, intellectual property, and Globe’s competitive strategies and plans,” Globe said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange yesterday.

Bonifacio previously served as vice president and information security/data privacy officer for Globe.

He has been working in the field of IT and information security for over 15 years and became the youngest certified information systems security professional in the Philippines in 2006.

As DPO, Bonifacio’s responsibilities are in accordance with Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its relevant implementing rules and circulars, Globe said.
