The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Over 2,000 delegates are expected to converge at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia on Sept. 28-29 for the first national convention of the Philippine Institute of Real Estate Practitioners, Inc. (PhilRES).

PhilRES national president Rodolfo G. Valencia said the conference theme is “The Evolving Asean Property Landscape: Mobilizing for the Borderless Real Estate Marketplace.” The convention has been designed to help prepare local industry players to take an  active part in the much-awaited Integration of the Asean region following the official establishment of the Asean Economic Community by the end of 2015.

The conference sessions, Valencia said, are clustered around three main topical concerns. These are “The Borderless Real Estate Marketplace,” “Trends and Updates in the Real Estate Market,” and “Game Changers in the Real Estate Industry.” Each concern will feature specific presentations by renowned experts in their respective fields.

Related to the concerns of the borderless real estate marketplace, for example, are a sub-topic on “Building the Asean Community Through Integration” by a former Secretary of Foreign Affairs and expert on Asean affairs, “Expanding the Real Estate Service Reach:  The Asia-Pacific Region and Beyond” by a leading global real estate consultancy company, “The Road to Convergence for Asean and APEC: the Right of Way” by another former career diplomat and expert on both Asean and APEC, “National and Border Security Matters: Why it will Take a Village Approach” by one of the foremost national security advisors and regional expert on national security, and “The Changed Real Estate Landscape: Planning for Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Management” by an international urban planner and expert on heritage architecture.

Trends and updates in the real estate market will include a sub-topic on “The Emerging Real Estate Markets: Mining the Sweet Spots” by another well-known international real estate consultant and a leader in the leasing business, “Real Estate in the Digital Space” by a multi-awarded global expert in digital marketing and considered one of the founding fathers of digital marketing in the Philippines, “Building the Brand: Defining the Value, Owning the Equity” by the leader of a pioneering stakeholder relations group in the Philippines and cited as one of the most promising entrepreneurs in the Asia Pacific, “The Power of the Millennial Market” by a past president of the Management Association of the Philippines and acknowledged expert in public accounting as well as good corporate governance and applied ethics.

Game changers in the real estate industry will feature updates and discussions related to legislative agenda, regulatory notices, legal trends, best practices and competencies, as well as risks and insurance that impact the emerging property market in the Philippines and the cross-border trade that comes with Asean integration.

Valencia said registration for attendance in the national convention is now in full swing. In the past two weeks alone, some 400 real estate practitioners have fully registered, with close to a thousand more already on the reservation list.

Interested participants are advised to contact the secretariat of the host PhilRES Quezon City chapter at [email protected] or call any of the following telephone numbers: (0917) 379-4094, (0917) 578-9800, (0917) 998-9332, or (02) 782-5249. The convention website at www.philresqc.com may be visited for additional information.

For the licensed professionals, attendance at these learning sessions may be credited with various units for continuing professional development by the Professional Regulatory Board for Real Estate Service (PRBRES).

Currently the largest association of licensed and accredited real estate service practitioners in the Philippines, the PhilRES is the officially-recognized AIPO, or accredited integrated professional organization for the real estate service profession.
