Kerwin Espinosa out of Abu Dhabi jail in one month?
MANILA, Philippines - Alleged high-value drug personality Rolando “Kerwin” Espinosa Jr. may get out of jail in Abu Dhabi in a month’s time.
Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Constancio Vingno Jr. told UAE daily The National that Espinosa, now detained at the Al Wathba jail, was being investigated by authorities and may be set free after the probe.
“We were told that after completion of all the paper work, he could be released in a month’s time,” Vingno was quoted by The National as saying.
“That depends on whether or not he has committed any crime here,” Vingno said.
Espinosa, the subject of a manhunt for his alleged illegal drug trafficking activities in the Philippines, has reportedly sent word that he wanted to surrender as he also fears for his life, according to Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa.
Last August, President Duterte issued a 24-hour “shoot-on-sight” order against Kerwin and his father, Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., saying the two were involved in drugs.
Fearing for his life, the town mayor surrendered to authorities.
