Montejo, Lim top CEPCA’s Barracks Blitz Series #1

CEBU, Philippines —  Jasper Norman Montejo and Engr. Eladio Lim III shared the limelight in The Barracks Chess Club Blitz Series #1 spearheaded by the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA).

The 37-year-old Montejo, a chess varsity player of St. Mary’s College in his hometown Catbalogan City during his college days,lorded it over the All-Cepcans category with 7.5 points.

Montejo currently works as estate supervisor of National Housing Authority (NHA) in Eastern Visayas.

Kristina Belano finished second with 7.0 points while National Master Jerish Velarde and Jasper Rom wound up third and fourth with 6.5 points each.

Peterson Sia came out fifth with 5.5 points followed by NM Leonardo Alidani with 5.0 points.

The 64-year-old Lim, on the other hand, ruled the Cepcans B/Ladies category.

Lim, a civil engineer who works at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Region 8, was actually tied with Norman Martin Olayvar who also posted 24 points but Lim took the top spot by virtue of a higher tie-breaker.

Dr. Leo Lofranco settled for third with 23 points while Edwin Cablao and Randy Cabuncal rounded up the top five with 22 points each.
