BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A drug suspect, who was arrested Tuesday night during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Damgo in EB Magalona town of Negros Occidental, was found dead by hanging himself inside the town police custodial facility, the next day.
The drug suspect identified by the police as Allan Bolibar, 41, of Barangay Damgo, was declared dead by Dr. Edmundo Janeo Jr. when brought to the Municipal Health Office by members of the EB Magalona Rescue Team.
Police Officer 2 Orly de Asis found Bolibar hanging— with a string used as “belt” to his short pants and a green t-shirt tied around his neck — to a steel bar on the window of the upper portion of the custodial facility comfort room.
Police said Bolibar was arrested Tuesday night by the town police and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company personnel during a buy-bust operation at Bangga Saging in Barangay Damgo.
The buy-bust yielded four sachets of suspected shabu, estimated to have a market value of P2,000, and P500 in marked money.
Two hours after the arrest, Bolibar was first transported to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Iloilo City by the police for examination of the shabu seized in the buy-bust.
Bolibar and the policemen, who accompanied him to Iloilo, immediately returned to the EB Magalona Police Station detention cell early morning on Wednesday, only to be found dead by hanging a while later. (FREEMAN)
